West Greenland Adventure

Get ready for a once-in-a-lifetime West Greenland adventure tour led by Greenland expert Sigrún Sól. This unforgettable small-group journey takes you to some of Greenland’s most spectacular destinations, combining dramatic Arctic landscapes, rich Inuit culture, and authentic local experiences.
Our adventure begins in the charming coastal town of Ilulissat, home to the world-famous Ilulissat Icefjord (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Here you’ll witness gigantic icebergs drifting directly from the powerful Sermeq Kujalleq glacier, one of the fastest and most productive glaciers in the world. Walking along the Icefjord trails and sailing among the floating ice offers some of the most iconic scenery in all of Greenland.
During the tour, we’ll enjoy scenic fjord cruises, visit traditional Greenlandic villages, and sample authentic local cuisine while learning about centuries of Inuit history and culture. A true highlight of this West Greenland itinerary is our journey to the extraordinary Disko Island — a remote and geologically unique paradise known for its volcanic landscapes, black sand beaches, dramatic cliffs, and lush tundra meadows. Along the way, keep watch for whales as we cross Disko Bay, one of the best whale-watching regions in Greenland.
Back in Ilulissat, you’ll have time to explore museums, stroll along panoramic coastal paths, and dine in excellent restaurants showcasing the finest Greenlandic flavors. The adventure culminates with a full-day boat trip to the spectacular Eqi Glacier, where you’ll witness massive ice blocks calving thunderously into the sea — one of Greenland’s most unforgettable natural experiences.
This carefully designed West Greenland small-group tour offers the perfect balance of adventure, comfort, culture, and breathtaking nature. From towering icebergs and Arctic wildlife to local traditions and expert guiding, this journey promises memories that will stay with you forever.

Don´t forget you headnet.

Hike volcanic Disko Island – Black sand, red cliffs, wide horizons.

Iceland’s highland rivers and streams are clean enough to drink from directly. Fill your bottle anywhere on the trail. It’s one of the small daily joys that reminds you you’re somewhere genuinely wild.

You might arrive alone. You won’t feel that way for long.

Most of our travelers book solo. By the end of day one — usually around the dinner table in the hut — that changes. The women you meet on this trail tend to stay in your life. Small group, shared miles, real friendships.

What to Wear while hiking

The weather in West Greenland can bring sun, wind and rain all in one day, so layers are the key. Start with a base layer of merino wool or polyester. Add a warm mid layer like fleece, wool or down, and top it with a waterproof, windproof shell. Hiking pants or warm leggings and merino or synthetic socks keep your lower half comfortable. Wear sturdy, waterproof hiking boots that are already broken in, so your feet stay happy on uneven or wet paths. A warm, waterproof hat completes the look, and since we spend time out on the water, a windproof layer is especially welcome on the boat.

What to pack for Greenland

Expect mostly cool temperatures (5–15°C / 41–59°F), fresh Arctic air, occasional rain, and nearly 24 hours of daylight from late May to early August. Pack layers for changing weather, a head net for the mosquitoes, and a sleep mask for those bright summer nights!
