Day Tour

Golden Circle, Laugarás Lagoon & Local Farm Visit

Every Golden Circle day tour shows you Gullfoss, Geysir and Þingvellir. Ours also takes you somewhere most visitors never get to go: an authentic Icelandic farm, where you’ll sit down to a homemade lunch and spend real time with the residents, including Icelandic sheepdogs and their brand-new puppies (born 12 October!), plus cats, horses and pigs. That’s what makes this day different from a standard Golden Circle tour.

We start the morning slowly, the way Icelanders like it: in the warm geothermal water of Laugarás Lagoon, with nothing to do but float and wake up properly.

After lunch we take on the Golden Circle, saved for later in the day so we dodge the busiest crowds. Watch Gullfoss thunder into its canyon, wait for Strokkur to erupt at the Geysir geothermal area, and walk through Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can see the divide between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Farm visit & puppies

The Golden Circle, With Puppies

This is the part you won’t find on a standard Golden Circle tour. Instead of a quick lunch stop, we spend time on an authentic Icelandic farm with its Icelandic sheepdogs, the country’s only native dog breed, and their newest litter. Expect wagging tails, soft ears and a group that suddenly forgets all about the schedule.

Start the Day in Hot Water

Laugarás Lagoon is our first stop: warm geothermal water, quiet surroundings and a slow start before the sightseeing begins. Pack your swimsuit, entry is included.

Meet the Rest of the Farm Crew

The puppies steal the show, but the horses and the other farm animals are always happy to say hello. Bring your camera and a bit of patience.

Lunch on the Farm

Lunch is served at the farm: homemade soup, cake and coffee, with the farm animals close by. Hearty, local and exactly what you need before an afternoon of waterfalls and geysers.

The Golden Circle, Minus the Crowds

We save Gullfoss, Geysir and Þingvellir for later in the day to avoid the busiest crowds. Same icons, more elbow room.
