The trail then descends into the gullies of Jökultungur, where steaming hot springs and bubbling mud pools create a mesmerizing landscape. Along the way, take in breathtaking views of the Álftavatn area (Swan Lake) and the majestic Mýrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull glaciers. After the glacier hike, we continue to Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, known for its volcanic sands, basalt columns, and powerful Atlantic waves. We then visit Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, a striking, winding gorge carved by the Fjaðrá River and one of Iceland’s most photogenic natural features before getting settled in our hotel in the south-east.

Continuing west, we stop at Eldhraun Lava Field, formed during the historic Laki eruption in the late 18th century—one of the largest lava flows on Earth. The journey then brings us to two of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls: Seljalandsfoss, where it is possible to walk behind the cascading water, and nearby Gljúfrabúi, a hidden waterfall tucked inside a narrow canyon.
In the evening, we return to Reykjavík for a farewell dinner, celebrating the journey and reflecting on the shared experiences of the past days.
